Feed prices for nuts and ration remain around €9.50 per 25kg bag at the moment. In the last 12 months, prices per 25kg bag of nuts or ration has fallen between €1.60 – €1.70.
HerdFinder contacted a number of feed mills across the country to find out what they are charging for cattle feeds, outlined in the table below.
For beef fattening nuts (13-15% protein), the average price per tonne is €381/t.
Beef fattening meal (13-15% protein) is trading slightly lower at an average of €365/t.
Looking at dairy feed, dairy nuts is trading at an average price of €491/t, while dairy meal is €363/t.
Calf nuts and meal is trading at an average of €420/t.
It is possible that we may see a slight increase in feed prices in 2024 as grain prices are expected to increase, according to the Teagasc outlook report for 2024.
