Frequently Asked Questions
If you don’t yet have an account with us, click sign up or place ad. Enter your details and click ‘Register’. Please note your username will be publicly displayed on the site. You can create an account by submitting your email address on the form.
Next you will receive an activation email.
Click on the link in the email to activate your account.
When attempting to log in, if you receive the error message "Sorry, we don't recognize that email or password. Please try again!", click on forgot your password? link.
Enter your email address as requested and we will email you a link to reset your password. You need to reset your password within 24 hours of receiving our email. If you don't see the message in your inbox, check your Junk Mail folder
If you have not received your activation email, please log into your account and ensure you have entered the correct email address. Please also check your junk and spam folders.
If after 24 hours, you still have not received the email, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, directly from the email address used to register your account
To logout simply go to ‘My Account’ and click ‘Logout’
Go to My Account and then click on ‘Account details’ from the dropdown on the left. You can upload or change your profile image, name and mobile number here. Once your done simple click on ‘Update Account’.
The first time you place an ad on Herdfinder, you will be asked to verify your account by email.
Log into your account and click the green ‘Post Ad’ button at the top right of your page.
Select a category for your ad.
Enter the title of your advert.
Add an asking price. Please only enter numbers, no symbols, spaces or letters.
Then fill in the remaining details on your animal.
Upload your images on the animal (maximum of 5).
Fill in your contact details.
When you’re pleased with your ad click on ‘Submit’.
Once you place your ad (and submit payment where applicable), it will appear on Herdfinder within a matter of minutes.
You can view all your active and inactive ads in My Account.
If you are browsing the site and cannot see your ad it may be advertised in the wrong category. Find the ad in your profile, go to ‘edit ad’ and click ‘edit category’.
If an advert has been removed from the site, we will send you an email notification to explain why your advert was removed.
Your favourites is a self-curated list of adverts that can be easily accessed from your profile. Adding listings to your favourites makes it easy to keep track of ads you are interested in. For adverts on your favourites, you will receive an alert if the price changes, or if the ad gets marked as sold or withdrawn.
Adding an ad to your watchlist: You can manually add items to your favourites by clicking on the heart icon on an advert image.
Removing ads from your watchlist on desktop: To remove an ad from your favourites, go to the advert and click the ‘unfavourite’ button.

Whenever you buy or sell something an animal on Herdfinder, you will be asked to leave feedback about your experience.
Leaving feedback is not compulsory, but we strongly recommend it as it helps create a safe and friendly online market place for farmers across Ireland.
